Mastering Full Stack: The 2026 Roadmap
If you are starting in 2026, ignore the 2021 roadmaps. The shape of full-stack has changed. Server components, edge runtimes, and type-safe APIs are now table stakes.
Phase 1 (Weeks 1-4): TypeScript fluency. Strict mode, generics, conditional types. Everything else builds on this. Skip framework tutorials until you can read any TS file and predict the types.
Phase 2 (Weeks 5-10): One modern framework end-to-end. We recommend Next.js or Remix, but the goal is depth in one, not surface across many. Build three production-grade projects.
Phase 3 (Weeks 11-16): Database and API design. Postgres, indexes, migrations, query planning. Then build a type-safe API layer (tRPC, GraphQL, or Hono). Ship a backend with auth, RBAC, and observability.
Phase 4 (Weeks 17-22): Infra and deployment. Containers, edge functions, CI/CD, IaC. Deploy your capstone to two regions with proper monitoring.
Phase 5 (Weeks 23-26): Capstone plus system design. Design a 10-component system, defend the trade-offs in a mock interview, then build it. This is the artifact that gets you hired.
